Other than Olive products, what are some other high value choices for streamer hardware that is UPnP / DLNA compatible? For sound quality, is coax digital output generally superior to USB?.What Mac OSX and iPhone based music server, client controller, mobile UPnP/DLNA software represents a good choice?. ![]() ![]() Is it wise to base media sharing in your home based on DLNA or UPnP? Is the industry trending solidly in this direction, or is another standard or platform emerging that is supported, or planned to be supported by more network aware media devices that has longer term appeal?.Here's a few questions I have (SamS, I hope your listening) that would be a great help: My research into these topics is not very deep. I'm now viewing the Olive products as UPnP / DLNA compatible device that I'd like to discover and manage using a good software suite, and transition my self to something MacBook Pro client, and computer or NAS based. I'm interested in taking greater advantage a less proprietary solution, and thought that adopting PnP or DLNA based server and client controller software would be a good move. ![]() The good news is these products have UPnP and DLNA compliant features. Olive has recently revamped their product line up again, leaving me uneasy about their support. I've got an Olive 4HD server and Olive 2 streamer for sharing audio among my 2 channel and home theater systems. ![]()
